First time Glazing...

So I had this beautiful picture of Jesus that was given to me. I love the picture but I didn't like the wood frame. The tone doesn't really match my house.

So I decided to Paint it. So I taped off the glass really well...

...And I spray painted it white. But I ran out of paint right as I was finishing so it looked kindof splotchy...

So I decided to try glazing it.
I mixed 1 part Choclate Brown Ceramcoat paint with 1 part water

And then I painted it on... Waited a minute.. and wiped it back off with a paper towel.
After I got the first part wiped off and it wasn't too ugly, I was relieved.

So I kept going...

And here it is finished.

I was really worried it would turn out ugly or be hard and it was neither. It took me about 10 minutes and turned out nice.
Whew...

A Pictures worth a thousand words.

We've been pretty busy lately, but we've been pretty good at taking the camera along with us so I'll just update with pictures :D
We spend last Friday night working on these vinyl signs for the new owners of Big Foot Pro Shop. It took a while, but it was cool because we'd never done a back lit sign before. I was really happy with how it turned out!

Then on Saturday morning, we didn't waste any time. We had my dad and Justin's mom and dad up to the house and we worked in the basement all day long. It was great! We got all the insulation in besides the guest room which is holding all the junk for now so we can work in the other rooms 'obstruction free'. After we got the insulation up Justin and my dad got the ceiling in the 'family room' sheet rocked. YAY!

Justin's dad and I finished framing all the walls in the gun room and bathroom and the closet in the gun room (which is actually a 5th bedroom)

Gun Room

Bathroom- You can see through the back to the closet in the gun room and to the storage room

Sunday after church Justin and I loaded up the girls and took a drive. We went out East of the Green River, past Jensen. We drove up through a ton of cedars to the top of this hill that overlooked the valley below. It was really pretty!

The girls had a great time running around and sniffing out all the ' new' smells.

After we walked around for a while we found a spot between some cedars to block the wind and we built a fire and sat up the Target and shot our bows for a little while. It was a Great time!!!

Monday I had to try out this new little craft idea I had.
I went to the dollar store and bought a set of glass candle sticks and two glass cylinders. Cost $4.
I used some Gorilla Super Glue to glue the cylinders on top of the candle sticks.
I let them dry over night with a book on top to keep them weighted down.
This is how they turned out...  Not too shabby.
So I filled them with some dried black beans and some candles and they went on top of my cabinets.
After a day, I decided I didn't like the beans and candles, so I  filled them with little fake green apples instead. Much cuter! Much more Springy. {Sorry- didn't get a pic of that}
In other exciting news! The Orchid that Justin bought me last year from Smiths that I was pretty sure was dead, started growing again a while back. So I kept watering it and LOOK!!! It's blooming again.
There are only 2 in this picture but we're up to 6 with 4 more buds to go.
It's so cool!!!

As for this week...Well- at least tomorrow. Justin and I are going to try and get the day off work. We found Liddy a boyfriend so we can make some puppies and she's come into heat this last week and tomorrow she'll be ready so we have to drive her up to North Ogden.
I'm so excited!!!

Can't you imagine 8 of these adorable little faces running around terrorizing things?

The Biggest ...

Last week we built our biggest banner yet. It was 12' long.
I was nervous...
But it turned out really really good!
I was relieved...

This weekend...

This weekend is Justin's 4 day weekend for March. We were going to go to Grand Junction for a little getaway- but then my dad offered to help us on the basement since he has Sat. - Mon. off too- so we decided that was probably a better idea. We've got to take advantage of help when we can get it.
Last week we got most of the insulation into the ceiling in the Largest of the downstairs rooms so this weekend we get to work on: Framing up Justin's gun room, the last wall in the bathroom and the closet to the gunroom. After we get that framed, we get to run the electrical into that room. Then we can finish insulating the rest of the ceiling so all the rooms will be on that same page. It's going to be a lot of work, but that's my goal for the weekend. Getting everything at the same "work point" After that we can sheetrock :D YAY!
We already bought 11- 10' pieces to do the ceiling with, but we still need to buy the 8' ones for the walls.

I cannot wait for the day that it will be sheet rocked! That means I get to paint - which won't be as exciting then as it is now- but I think that's when things will start to "come alive" down there for me. Although the lights were a HUGE step in the right direction- actually having painted walls just might blow my mind.

Today didn't start out so well- so I hope the rest of the weekend goes without catastrophe. My phone- which is my alarm clock- decided it needed to crash in the middle of the night and that would have been okay if Justin was working today because his alarm would have woken me up. However, Justin isn't working today, so his alarm didn't go off until 6:30 -- I work @ 6 mind you....So of course I woke up FURIOUS at my phone. Justin was so helpful in grabbing clothes and shoes and socks and purse and breakfast and so on...and helped get me out the door. He's wonderful. My day is now going much better though- so I'm hoping that was the worst event for the weekend.

Hope you all have a good one!!

My Birthday Party

For my birthday we had the family and some friends over. We played Just Dance and had a Wonderful Dinner with Cupcakes and a Yummy Angel Food Cake with chocolate filling and a Raspberry and Whipped Cream Frosting.
Natalie had me cracking up with her "dance moves" so I had to post this video.
Thank You Everyone for a Wonderful Birthday!

So Blessed....

Life can be so overwhelming sometimes. It is so easy to take for granted all the many wonderful blessings we have and enjoy! I have been so happy to have all those blessings lately. I have enjoyed taking time to just be aware of how blessed I am and to thank my Heavenly Father for all those wonderful blessings!
  • I am grateful for the wonderful sunshine that has decided to come out and make my days so much brighter!
  • I am grateful that the snow on my back deck was melted away enough that I could shovel off what was left and get my patio furniture out of the garage!
  • I am grateful for the brave little pieces of grass that are starting to stand up and turn green now that the snow is melting away!
  • I'm grateful that Justin and I both got Bonuses from work and that we've been able to use that extra money towards getting rid of our debt instead of (what I feel like most people do) blowing it, or using it as a down payment on more "debt"
  • I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity I have to go to Women's Conference tomorrow to hear the speakers and try to absorb every little wonderful thing they're going to say
  • I'm grateful for my and Justin's health and our home and jobs!
  • I'm so grateful for my wonderful family! I love them so much!
  • I'm grateful our country isn't under water or being hit by tsunami's or earthquakes and I'm praying for those people who have been effected by this disaster

I'm grateful for so so many other things that I don't need to take the time to list here.

Have a great weekend everyone!
I hope you're all spending time to be grateful for everything you're blessed to have in your lives and remembering where they come from!

Bedroom Re-do!

I decided our bedroom needed a little updating. There was nothing wrong with it, but I decided it was missing a "wow" factor, and of all places, I think your Master Bedroom should have a "wow" factor.

So this was it before.....

Yep-- basket of laundry and everything
Kindof drab...but not too bad right?

So I stenciled the walls with a Rabat Stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils
I hung my new shelf, and curtains as well. We hung our headboard a little higher on the wall instead of letting it sit on the floor-- and this is my masterpiece :D

I think I found my "wow" factor...
I moved the dresser and swapped the old TV for some cute decorations

I just couldn't get rid of my antique ceiling tin, so I had to shove it up on that shelf

I also moved the trunk from the end of the bed to in front of the window and moved the bench I build last summer from the dining room to the end of the bed....
Now I need to build a new bench but I think it was worth it!!!

 So in the end:
