Success!

I haven't posted for a while- besides showing off my new crafts- so {for journaling purposes} I think it's time for a re-cap.
This last month has been a blur. I can't believe that it's almost February. {hold up} I'm not ready! lol
I started Spring Semester in January. Although I planned to take two courses- Bus 3550-Marketing and Acct 2010- Fundamentals of acct. My business class didn't work out so all I'm taking is Accounting.
This worked out because I've never taken an accounting class before and was pretty nervous that I would be overwhelmed. Thus far it has been pretty easy and I have actually enjoyed it. I can now look at my quickbooks tax reports and understand most of what those numbers mean and where they came from, lol.
Although, upon a recent peek into what my first exam will be like....I have a lot of work to do.
Justin and I have been playing co-ed volleyball on Wednesday nights at the rec. center on a team with my Friend Nichole and her family. So far we have won one/lost one every night. {we play 2 games a night} We've been doing pretty well. Last week- I was about ready to scream/stomp off/run away/cry/quit But....I pulled through, lol.
I hate it when your mind says one thing and your body does another then you and everyone else are going "WHERE THE HECK DID THAT COME FROM CHELSIE!"
Quite embarrassing.
Justin has really enjoyed being able to play volleyball again. He hasn't gotten to play since he lived in St. George. He loves being active and being out so this has been really good for him. Plus I missed both of us playing a sport together. I'm getting excited for softball now :D
We've been making slow slow slow progress on the basement. Once we {as in Eric and Justin} got the electrical done we just kind of--slowed...well stopped. Actually it's like we ran into a friggin brick wall- but! Last night we went down and started clearing a path in his gun room so we can finish the electrical in there. Hopefully after that is finished we can get some insulation in the ceiling and start on sheet rock.
I can't wait!
I have to admit that these last few weeks I've been so impatient in getting the basement done that I'm probably driving Justin/everyone I know crazy. It's all I think about and probably all I talk about. But here's why {I am justified}
In my head it goes like this: Finish basement- while it's cold, fix up yard- while it's warm. Then we start stockpiling $ into savings and paying off my car so that when Next October comes we can turn the current guest room into a nursery and...try to have a Baby!!
I am excited. And I feel like if we hurry and get our "To Do" list done- time will go faster.
Not logical, but hey-- It's how my brain is working right now so I'm just going to let this one go.
:D
Anyway.
Life is good. Work is good. We're happy and healthy {knock on wood}.
I made it through church- half a nap- cleaning up the house-cooking dinner for the missionaries- and now I just get to sit and relax.
Success!
{I should actually study my accounting or get my butt on the elliptical}
Things I'm looking forward to in February:
  1. It will hopefully continue to get warm.
  2. We can keep making progress in the basement.
  3. Valentines Day!!
  4. Hopefully Liddy will cycle so we can get some puppies on the way
  5. My Semester will be almost half over
  6. Dan and Wendy coming out to visit! YAY!
  7. My Birthday-- I'll be 22. {still struggling with this one}
  8. I'll get to wrap the skirting on the bar in our Kitchen with Bead board!
  9. One step closer to getting our taxes done
  10. One month closer to Bonus time!

Vintage? "It just means OLD"

I've been wanting a long narrow 'vintage' looking table to go on my front porch for a long time now.
When we first bought the house I LOVED this front porch. I thought it was the coolest thing- and I soon realized that although it was very cool it was also very narrow!
I've had a hard time finding something just the right size to fit in this space-- so I decided to build something.
But while trying to come up with ideas of what to build it out of and to paint/stain or distress/leave pristine..It hit me..
I had a pile of old barn wood that Justin has been {ever so lovingly} collecting for me for the past few years.
So the work began...

I started with 6 old boards.

I laid them out how I wanted and started screwing together the base. After I got the first side of the base in place, I flipped it over and attached the other side.
Then we glued/finish nailed the top on and
Tu-Duh!!
There she is!!!
Now I was having a conversation with my dad the other day about this table I was contemplating building and I told him I thought I was going to use this old barn wood. I love the coloring and character of it and think it's just plain awesome. My little brother was sitting in on the conversation and goes "Why would you want to build something 'new' out of something 'old'"
I told him I loved the character and charm of vintage items and he goes
"So you really mean you just like old stuff?"
So to put it quite simply...
Here is my new/old table.
And I love it!
{nottomention- it was free!}

3 Years Later

About 3 years ago...I bought this Antique cieling tin at a garage sale for a couple bucks.
I thought it was cool- didn't know what to do with it- but it was cool....
So I got this idea...
So I took it to the "paint table" and wiped it down

I gave it a couple coats of spray paint and let it dry.
Then I distressed it a little to show through to the original black.

Drilled a hole in each corner of the center square.

Threaded some ribbon through the holes

Tied a bow and threw on a magnetic clip...

And I matted a picture and hung it from the clip...
And Wa-La.

This beauty now lives over my bed and I love it!

Not bad for a couple bucks and an hour!

MY.DAY.SUCKS

Wow.. I can definately say I've had worse days...but today....
I shouldn't have gotten out of bed.

Grandma Rosie's Meatballs

These meatballs have been famous in my family for years. Everyone loves them and I got to make them for myself for the first time today. They are delicious and filling!
If you want to try them out here's the recipe.

1 lb. hamburger
1lb. sausage
1 c. Breadcrumbs
1/4 C. Milk
1 Grated Carrot
Minced Onion

Mix all ingredients together. Form into round balls and cook @ 350 for 35 minutes.
Sauce:
1 small can tomato soup
1 cup catsup
1 tsp. mustard
1 chopped green pepper
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 c. Water
Salt

You can cook the sauce down in a pan and serve when the meatballs are done-- or you can mix them all together in a crock pot and turn them back on tomorrow for some delicious leftovers!
We eat them over white rice.
Easy Peasy...

Enjoy!

Happy Days...

After work one day last week, Justin and I loaded the girls up and drove out to a dirt {under the snow and ice} road somewhere and we all went for along walk. We let the girls run and play in the snow. They loved it! Plus it was a good time for Justin and I to walk and talk together and laugh at our girls.
I love my little family! We are so blessed.

Things I'm loving!

I am still loving my Rainbow Cleaning System. It's just so stinking amazing!
I love having a cleaner than CLEAN house! And this little guy does it all!

For the first time in-- probably forever- I'm excited for Valentines day. I like it and all but this year I'm actually Excited! No specific reason. I just hope we can come up with something fun and sweet to do!!
These little Special K 90 calorie bars are my new breakfast/snack go-to. They are delicious- small and {well lets face it} Only 90 calories!

I am LOVING! My new Oh-La-La overcoat that I got at Downeast Basics at the Gateway last weekend. It's super soft and comfy!
Not too dressy- not too casual.
It now goes everywhere I do.

I love that I'm eating a whole lot more of
{THIS STUFF}
And It's all because of
{THESE LITTLE GUYS}
Mini cucumbers. Sound weird?
I thought so too. Until I tasted one.
They DON'T taste like cardboard!
And they're the perfect size for just one small person for one salad for lunch- instead of a hamburger or corn dog or something super fattening.
Big time score on these!
{They're at walmart above the regular cucumbers in the veggie section} I can't tell you how much I LOVE LOVE my new cotton sheets.
Justin got them for me for Christmas-- Just like I wanted-- and they are Absolutely wonderful-- just like I wanted.
They are soft and keep you cool, but not too cool.
And did I mention they were soft??
Wow!

My new boots that (kindof) resemble
{THESE GUYS}
Without all the rivet thingies.
We got them at Forever Young in Provo last weekend also.
Super comfy and soft!
and I LOVE they Grey color of them too.
I'm very much a Grey person.

And Last but not Least....I'm trying to talk myself into loving that I'll be ...

... next month. I officially feel old.
I know- I know. 22 is not THAT old- but-- lets just say it's not 21 anymore.
Hmmm...

Sophie's owie!!

Sophie got a case of staff infection about a week ago. She started scratching at this area under her collar, so we took it off of her and found a nasy infection. We couldn't figure out where she got it, so we took her into the vet. He said that with them playing out in the snow so much that some water must have soaked in and made her itch, so she scratched it and gave herself a puncture hole. I didn't know this but apparently every living thing with 'epithelials' (sp?) AKA- skin- carries staff on the surface. That includes you and me - gross eh. Anyway, when she punctured that spot the staff went crazy since it was in a warm wet environment and BAM! She's got a VERY painful owie! I asked him how long it had been like this because she was acting just fine until that day. He said it looked like it was only 48 hours old TOPS- not to worry- we weren't being bad 'parents' for not knowing. He said it's quite common...but we still felt so bad for out little girl.
Anyway- after we went to the vet, she got some pain killers, antibiotics, creams and benadryl to help her sleep. After many pills, lots of food, lots of love, cuddles and 'dry time' in the house- she's now doing much much better!!!

Finally Organized!

I totally scored on all the matching green totes and baskets for $1 each @ family dollar. Awesome for me!!!

Those of you who know me well, know that I'm a little bit OCD. I have to have things organized and neat and tidy. Well with the holidays and college and one project after another, my office/craft room turned into a 'toss it' room. Anything and everything you could imagine was piled up/thrown in/strewn across this room. Well with the new year always making me more motivated than normal to organize things, I {very bravely} tackled the office and LOOK! It's clean! And organized! I could spend all day in here now and not lose my mind!
It's a wonderful feeling!
You should try it!
Organize something :D
